The makers of Blackberry smartphones, Research in Motion have come out with an application called "South Africa on Blackberry' on its application store by which through the push technology one can get real time updates about football matches and scores. It is even integrated with social messaging sites like twitter and facebook.

Nokia has its application store, Ovi Store with all football content and even has software applications which allows people to download free audio and video content on great goals scored by great players, all latest news, games and social networking.

A study by Nielsen revealed that almost 34% of soccer fans in India will follow the FIFA World Cup 2010 on mobiles, much on a higher side than the global estimate of 21%. Also 47% of people surveyed in India said that they are soccer fans after Brazil, Portugal, Egypt, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Venezuela, Vietnam and Italy.

Gaming developers like jumpgames, India games and games2win have developed a number of games for the World Cup. India Games have even tied up with electronic cards, a company which owns the exclusive rights for the FIFA 2010 cup.

JumpGames, has come out with 2 soccer games which will be compatible across phone platforms like Symbian and Google's Android.

Contest2win is also planning to launch a role playing soccer game with the Mahabharat theme and has tied up with a leading telecom operator to come out with the game 2 couple of weeks after the World Cup 2010 is in full swing.
